THE GHOSTS ARE BACK IN FUTURE SOLDIER

The DirectX 11-infused PC version of Ghost Recon: Future Soldier will begin accepting recruits on June 26. Ubisoft announced Future Soldier's PC release date this morning, complete with minimum and recommended system specs. That's the straight news. Of note in the announcement is the Ghost Recon tagline, which I noticed for the first time: "When you're outnumbered, only the dead fight fair." So let's get ready to fight dirty!

Ubisoft is pushing the enhanced PC features in Future soldier, but I'd like to add one to the list below -- no always-on internet requirement DRM:
  • DX 11
  • More complex materials (like parallax occlusion mapping or gloss and specular maps)
  • Improved dynamic lighting
  • Volumetric lighting effects
  • Soft shadows
  • Improved post-processing with better HDR and motion blur
  • Playable with keyboard and mouse, or with wired and wireless controllers
  • Minimum hardware requirements:
OS: Windows Vista, Windows 7, both 32 bit and 64 bit
    CPU: Intel Pentium D 3GHz or AMD Athlon64 X2 4400 2.2GHz
    RAM: 2GB
GPU: 512 MB DirecX-compliant, Shader 4.0-enabled video card based on nVidia GeForce 8600 GTS or AMD Radeon HD 4650
    Recommended configuration:
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 or AMD Phenom 2 X4 940 or higher
RAM: 3GB GPU: 1024 MB DirectX-compliant, Shader 4.0-enabled card based on GeForce GTX 460 or AMD/ATi HD 5850 or better
